There are two typesof alcohol you can obtain from wood -- methanol and ethanol. Methanolcan be obtained from wood by high temperature destructivedistillation. Methanol is also known as wood alcohol. The othermethod used to obtain ethanol involves converting the sawdust tosimple sugars, the usual fermenting by yeast, and the usualdistillation of the fermented solution.
